Parent progress tracking

See what your child is learning — and exactly where they need support.

Parents will have access to a secure progress portal, giving you a clear lesson-by-lesson view of your child’s tuition. After each session, the tutor records what was covered, progress made, strengths, weak points and the next areas to focus on.

How we teach GCSE

  • We use the student’s exam board, school topics, mock results and current grades to identify the highest-impact areas first.
  • Content is taught clearly, then immediately applied to exam-style questions so students learn how the mark scheme expects knowledge to be used.
  • Tutors explicitly teach command words, timing, working structure, calculations and how to avoid common lost marks.
  • Past-paper work is reviewed with targeted feedback rather than simply marked right or wrong.

What we want to help with

  • Filling topic gaps and strengthening weaker areas.
  • Improving exam technique and confidence under timed conditions.
  • Learning how to answer 4-, 6- and extended-response questions effectively.
  • Creating a realistic revision plan around mocks and final exams.
  • Moving students towards their target grade through measurable, topic-by-topic progress.

Specification-led teaching & progress tracking

  • Where a subject has an exam-board specification, we encourage students and tutors to use it as a clear checklist of exactly what needs to be understood and assessed.
  • Tutors keep an ongoing record of topics covered, progress made and individual weak points so support remains focused from one lesson to the next.
  • Weak areas are carried forward into future lessons rather than forgotten. Tutors revisit them through short recaps, retrieval questions and further exam practice until the student is more secure.
  • This creates continuity between sessions and helps students see their progress while ensuring important gaps are addressed before moving on.

What a session looks like

A typical GCSE lesson starts with a focused recap, moves into targeted teaching, then uses exam questions to test application. The tutor finishes by reviewing mistakes, highlighting mark-scheme language and setting a clear focus for the next session.

Quality & safeguarding: all tutors are DBS checked and safeguarding trained. With student consent, sessions may be recorded for quality assurance so teaching standards can be reviewed and maintained.
How the parent progress portal works

A clear record of each lesson, not just a general progress update.

Once your child begins tuition, parents can be given access to the secure progress portal used by Trojan Tutoring. The portal acts as one place to follow the tuition taking place between lessons.

  1. After the lesson, the tutor records the session. This includes the main topics covered, what the student understood well and any areas where they struggled.
  2. Weak points are identified and carried forward. If a topic is not yet secure, it is recorded so the next tutor session can revisit it through recap, retrieval questions or further exam practice.
  3. Parents can follow the history over time. Rather than relying on occasional verbal updates, you can see what has been taught from lesson to lesson and how previously identified weaknesses are developing.
  4. Next steps stay visible. The tutor can use the previous lesson record to plan what should be reinforced, practiced or progressed next.

Important: The portal is used to organise and share the information. Your Trojan tutor is the person who assesses the student’s strengths, identifies weak points and decides what needs to be revisited.
