How we teach KS3
- We begin by identifying the topics the student is currently studying at school and any areas where confidence is low.
- Concepts are broken into short, clear steps using examples, questioning and guided practice rather than simply giving answers.
- Lessons are interactive and paced around the student, with regular checks for understanding so misconceptions are corrected early.
- We finish with a short recap and clear next steps so students know exactly what to practice between lessons.
What we want to help with
- Building confidence in Maths, Sciences and other supported KS3 subjects.
- Closing gaps before they become bigger problems at GCSE.
- Developing strong homework, revision and organisation habits.
- Improving problem-solving, written explanations and independent thinking.
- Making the transition into GCSE study feel less daunting.
Specification-led teaching & progress tracking
- Where a subject has an exam-board specification, we encourage students and tutors to use it as a clear checklist of exactly what needs to be understood and assessed.
- Tutors keep an ongoing record of topics covered, progress made and individual weak points so support remains focused from one lesson to the next.
- Weak areas are carried forward into future lessons rather than forgotten. Tutors revisit them through short recaps, retrieval questions and further exam practice until the student is more secure.
- This creates continuity between sessions and helps students see their progress while ensuring important gaps are addressed before moving on.
What a session looks like
A typical KS3 lesson combines explanation, worked examples, guided questions and independent practice. The tutor adapts the balance depending on whether the student needs reteaching, consolidation or extra challenge.
Quality & safeguarding: all tutors are DBS checked and safeguarding trained. With student consent, sessions may be recorded for quality assurance so teaching standards can be reviewed and maintained.
